Hiran Charitha Serasinghe was born on 21st October 1948.
Hiran’s father, Brigadier Doctor Clifford Serasinghe (OBE), retired as Director Army Medical Services.
He was personally awarded the Officer of the Military Division of the Most Excellent Order
of the British Empire (OBE) by Queen Elizabeth 11, during her visit to Sri Lanka, in 1954.
His mother Mabel Pereira Serasinghe, hailed from a family of distinguished lawyers in Colombo.
His only sister Ianthi Serasinghe Dhammapala, after graduating from the
University of Colombo, devoted her entire life to teaching,
and is a much sort after chemistry teacher today.
Hiran is married to Sharmini Serasinghe the renowned TV personality and Journalist.
Hiran’s entire schooling was at Issipathana Maha Vidiyalaya, until his first job at
Ceylon Tobacco Company (CTC). Thereafter he joined the hospitality industry,
and graduated from the Oberoi School of Hotel Management in New Delhi.
Within a span of fifteen years, Hiran worked his way through, and was appointed General Manager of the Colombo Renaissance. This appointment gave him the distinctive honour, of being the first Sri Lankan, to be appointed General Manager, of an internationally managed five star hotel in Sri Lanka.
He has since served, as a Consultant to several leading Companies, involved in the hospitality industry.
At present Hiran is a independent hotel consultant & Managing Agent covering all aspects of Hotel Projects, Management & Marketing.
He is the independent managing agent for the following properties,
- Heaven Seven Nuwara Eliya
- Heaven Seven Kandy
- Amarantha Classic Retreat Dambulla (opening august 2015)
In addition, he serves as Director Operations of Heaven Seven Marketing and Event Management Services, as well as a Member of the Hotel Classification Committee, appointed by the Tourism Development Authority of Sri Lanka, to inspect and recommend hotels, for star rating in Sri Lanka.
